The Tripoli derives It's name from the Tripolitan War (1801-1805) which the United States fought against the Barbary Pirates. She is an Iwo Jima class amphibious assault ship and is the second United States Navy Ship to bear the name TRIPOLI. The first was a Casablanca class aircraft carrier read more »
